Maker Faire Long Island 2024 - Workshop Sessions Advance Ticket Sales Preregistration

Dear Attendees,

Preregistration is now open for the highly anticipated Maker Faire Long Island Workshops on June 3rd, 2023. Please note that workshop times and locations are subject to change. While preregistering lists you as an attendee, it does not guarantee availability.

⚠️ Only register for workshops you confirm to attend. ⚠️ In the event you cannot make the workshop, please let us know as soon as possible so we may open up registration to others.

Please note these pre-registration spots are limited, but additional workshop spots will be available on the day of the faire. Please see makers at their booth locations for more details and signups. Registration closes Friday, June 2nd, 2023, at 6 PM.

Workshops:

1. Maker: Ray & Chris Rumore

  • Age: Ages 6 and up
  • Workshop Time: 10:30 AM
  • Description: Interactive lightsaber and force training class for children. Learn the basics of the force and how to use a training lightsaber. Limited to 25 children, and registration confirmation and additional disclosure are required.

2. Light Saber Choreography

  • Maker: Andrea James
  • Age: Ages 12 and up
  • Workshop Time: 3:30 PM
  • Duration: 1 hour (cap 10 adults)
  • Description: Partner up with an experienced Saber Guild member to learn the art of lightsaber choreography. Limited to 10 adults, and registration confirmation and additional disclosure are required.
     

3. Stony Brook University (VIP BEAR & Friends Workshop Series 1): Biomedical Engineer

  • Maker: Dr. M. Ete Chan, Biomedical Engineering Department, Stony Brook University
  • Workshop Times: 10:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 3:30 PM
  • Description: DIY 3D printing STEM-themed necklace pendant

The Following are a Sample of the Ongoing Workshops Throughout the Day (No Need to Register):

1. Robot Design for Everyone

  • Maker: Snappy XO
  • Age: Ages 9 and up
  • Workshop Time: ALL DAY
  • Description: Learn to design and build a walking robot with the SnappyXO Invention kit and MotionGen Pro software. Create a cute little machine that can hop and walk, with the ability to tweak the walking motion to resemble different animals.

2. Ray's Robots: Balloon Bot Brawl

  • Age: Ages 6 and up
  • Workshop Time: ALL DAY
  • Description: Participate in an electrifying 1-on-1 robot showdown. Each contestant attaches a brightly colored balloon to their robot and maneuvers their robots with a controller. Aim to burst your opponent’s balloon before yours gets popped. It’s a whirlwind of fun and a thrilling quest for victory. One shall rise, one shall pop! Buckle up, and prepare for a wild ride at the Robot Balloon Battle!

3. AI Labs: Doodle n Duel

  • Maker: Andrew Iacona
  • Age: Ages 6 and up
  • Workshop Time: ALL DAY
  • Description: After two years, we’re back at Maker Faire with Doodles n Duels Battlebots! Young makers will design, build, and battle their bots, with House Bot refereeing. Join us for a day of creativity, competition, and camaraderie.

4. Learn to Hand Drill with Princesses with Powertools

  • Maker: Princesses with Powertools
  • Age: Ages 6 and up
  • Workshop Time: ALL DAY
  • Description: Learn to use your first power tool from our amazing women engineers dressed as princesses, and find out why #brilliantisbeautiful! You’ll leave with a customized constellation projector you made yourself!

5. Mercurio: Jewelry Workshop

  • Maker: Mercurios Jewelry
  • Age: Ages 10 and up
  • Workshop Time: ALL DAY
  • Description: Make your own textured bracelet

6. Learn to Solder Workshop

  • Maker: Elijah Horland from Mythbusters Jr Class of 2019
  • Age: Ages 10 and up
  • Workshop Time: 2:00 PM
  • Description: Make your own Maker Faire Long Island light-up badge and learn how to use a soldering iron. The Maker Faire Long Island Maker Badge is sponsored and fabricated by @PCBWayOfficial and designed by Elijah from @NYIT & @MakerFaireLongIsland. Free with entry while supplies last.
